Stoke City coach. Mark Hughes says Ex-Liverpool star, Peter Crouch is still very important at the club despite giving opportunity to other players in the league.

Hughes insists Peter Crouch is still an integral member of the squad despite a lack of first-team action this season.

The Lanky striker was one of Stoke’s standout players during their 1-1 draw against Sunderland.

The forward headed down the ball for team-mate Marko Arnautovic to open the scoring with a powerful left-footed shot. Hughes after the game said:

“Peter was really influential against Sunderland.
“I was really pleased with his performance.”

Hughes has opted to stick with his new-signings this season which has seen Crouch start only four games so far but the Stoke manager has been impressed by the forward when he has been given the opportunity.
Hughes admitted this when he said:

After having joined Stoke City back on August of 2011, Peter Crouch has went on to make over 130 appearances for the Premier League club but it seems like his time at the Britannia Stadium is reaching it’s end.

The 35 year old player has mostly been spending this current season on the sidelines serving a substitute role and Peter Crouch has voiced his desire to get more playing time which is probably only going to occur if he decides to leave Stoke City and join another club.

Out of the 35 Premier League matches that have been played so far, Peter Crouch has only been featured in 9 of those games and the veteran player voiced his disappointment in what has been an underwhelming season for him.

Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley claims that he gets along well with defender Glen Johnson even though both are vying for the same spot in the first-team.

Johnson is currently recovering from a long-term knee injury. He went out of the first-team in the middle of February and it has resulted in Bardsley getting a rare run out in the first-team as a right back. This is his second season at the Britannia stadium and Bardsley has been disappointed with the number of first-team opportunities he has been receiving. Over the course of the entire campaign, he has made only 12 appearances in all competitions.

Remi Garde believes whatever General Charles Krulak has said, it’s because he is hugely passionate about Aston Villa.

In an animated interview the previous evening, Krulak, the countryman as well as the best mate of the Villa chairman Mr. Randy Lerner, emphasized that the situation has not gone out of hands for the Lions and they can avoid relegation if they battle as hard as marines.

Villa is right down at the bottom of the Premier League standings at the moment.

They have won just one game out of their 20 and many believe it’s virtually impossible for them to be able to get out of the bottom 3 now with less than half of the total no. of games left.

But, according to Krulak, there’s nothing like impossible in this world and the Villa players will have to back themselves to turn it around.

The General was quoted as saying, “Three back-to-back victories and it would turn around. You need to believe you can do it.”

Mark Hughes has made some big changes to the goalkeeping position of his team in Stoke City as Shay Given was signed to the Premier League club and AsmirBegovic is on the verge on being offloaded to Chelsea.

Stoke City signed the 39 year old Shay Given on a 2 year long contract as the experienced shot-stopper was lured in from Aston Villa. The veteran shot-stopper was initially not expected to turn into an active or influential figure in his new club at the Britannia Stadium but considering that Begovic is close to signing with Chelsea, now Shay Given might be the main goal-keeper of Stoke City for the next few seasons or at least provide Jack Butland with some serious competition.

Despite being 34 years old, Peter Crouch has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the upcoming England squad after his recent run of form.

The striker has scored three goals in his last three appearances for Stoke City. Even though England manager Roy Hodgson has a number of strikers at his disposal right now, the presence of Crouch provides a totally different perspective to the style of play.

However, the former Liverpool striker has ruled out the possibility of getting back to the national team – despite not officially retiring just yet – even with the good form.

Peter Crouch marked a return to the Stoke City starting line-up by scoring within one-minute against Arsenal during the weekend.

This impressive start helped them get a 3-2 victory, but Stoke appeared on the way to an even better result when they were leading 3-0 at half-time. Arsenal came into the encounter with renewed confidence after the run of three consecutive victories in which they conceded no goals. The matches against Southampton and Borussia Dortmund were seen as major tests for Arsene Wenger’s team but they passed this with flying colours. The goal-scoring record of Peter Crouch with Stoke City is not a very impressive one as the English attacker has only managed to score 27 goals in over 100 Premier League appearances for Stoke, comparing this feat to some other strikers it isn’t a very remarkable feat but nonetheless, Peter Crouch is hoping that he can continue performing with Stoke City the next years of his career.

Peter Crouch had no fear in expressing his experience performing for Stoke City which is the club that he signed with a few years ago.

Crouch has not made an appearance for England at the international stage in over 2 years and the player himself has stated that he does not have any hopes of being called up to represent England for their upcoming matches, which means that Crouch can just focus on playing the remaining seasons of his career for Stoke City and nothing else.

Stoke City’s Peter Crouch is a player that is constantly being linked with a move to QPR as the coach Harry Redknapp is interested in signing the English forward. Crouch and Redknapp have already worked together on a number of occasions in the past as they played side by side some years ago when performing for Tottenham, Southampton and Portsmouth.

Even though Crouch and Redknapp maintain a healthy relationship between themselves, Crouch is not looking to move away from Stoke City anytime soon as he spoke to the media concerning certain transfer rumors and denied all of them.
