CROUCH FORGIVES

The Stoke city striker Peter Crouch has said that he will not blame the Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini for the loss of his three teeth back in November.

The former Liverpool and Tottenham striker was involved in the clash with the Argentine defender Coloccini when the two sides met each other back in November. He lost his three teeth in the process, and he has been only recently back to his best.

Crouch has been wearing mouthguard until recently, and he has said that wearing it and playing is not ideal. Stoke city come into the match against Newcastle on the back of a poor run of form, as they have managed just one win in the last five matches.

The single victory came in the league match against Reading. The goal return for Crouch this season has been far from ideal, as the 32-year-old has been able to get just five goals from his 25 appearances this season. In fact, goal scoring has been a problem for the Stoke city team as a whole. Due to the excellent defence, they have been able to sustain a position close to the top half of the table. Crouch has also refused to blame Coloccini for the incident, as these things are not meant to happen.

“As you can see from when I clobbered Matty Taylor in the face, that wasn’t meant either. I felt so guilty after and went in to apologise because I know what it feels like. And I certainly don’t attach any blame to Coloccini. My nose was a bit wonky at Liverpool and I had it put right after a knock – and my teeth weren’t ideal until I had them knocked out and repaired – so I’m slowly improving as I get older!,” said the former England international.

EURO DREAMS

The former England international Peter Crouch has revealed that he wants to play in European football once more with his current club Stoke City.

The former Tottenham and Liverpool striker has fond memories of playing in the European competitions like the Champions League and the Europa league with his former clubs. He also experienced the same with Stoke City last season after they managed to qualify for the European football for the first time in their history. However, due to a poor league campaign, they have been unable to recreate the same this time around.

Now, the 30-year-old Peter Crouch has said that he is extremely desperate to get some more test of the European football with Stoke City and will be working hard to ensure the same at the end of the season. Crouch has been at Stoke City for more than a year now. He has been able to get them to a respectable finish in the league last season, but they failed to qualify for Europa league. They have made a good start to the new season by being extremely good defensively. As a result of the great defensive performances, they have been able to maintain their position in the top half of the table.

“The atmosphere at the Britannia when we play any of the big teams certainly rivals any of those games in Europe. But playing in the Champions League is the pinnacle. Playing in places like the San Siro and Bernabeu takes a lot of living up to. If you look at the atmosphere around the place, it’s fantastic as we are winning games. That shoots you up the Premier League table and we are now only three points off fifth or sixth,” said Peter Crouch. Stoke City are currently ninth in the Premier league table.

WALTERS BACKS CROUCH

The Stoke city player Jon Walters has said that the team should be working hard in order to provide the former Tottenham and Liverpool striker Peter Crouch with the necessary chances if they are to score more goals this season.

Stoke city have struggled to score a lot of goals in the league this season. As a result, they are given the unwanted tag of being the draw specialists in the league. They have managed just one victory in the Premier league this season, despite having a potent strikeforce in the form of Peter Crouch. The 30-year-old England striker has an impressive record of scoring for numerous clubs over the years.

However, he has been goal shy in front of goal for Stoke city this season. Walters has said that it is the job of the team in order to work hard and supply him with chances so that he can score. The club has scored just eight goals in the 10 matches they have played in the league. This record is not good enough if the team wants to finish in the European position according to the player. Walters, Matthew Etherington, and Michael Kightly are the players supplying ammunition for Peter Crouch in the 4-5-1 formation.

“Sometimes Crouchy is left on his own up front, so he is battling against two centre-halves and a midfielder screening in front of him. It is very difficult. So as a team I think we can do better going forward and we are working on that. As a wide man, I am not going to do 10 step overs, drop a shoulder and take on three or four players. It is all about the three in midfield at the moment building through the pitch,” said Walters. Stoke will face an away trip to West Ham on Tuesday night.

CROUCH BACKS OWEN

The striker of Stoke City, Peter Crouch, has said that Michael Owen has still got a lot of football left in him and he would definitely be able to make a comeback in the England national side.

Michael Owen has recently signed for Stoke City. Crouch thinks that Owen is a very good buy and he would definitely deliver for the club. He told the reporters that if Owen remains 100% fit, he would score a number of goals for the club in the current season.

As per Crouch, if Owen gets regular first team chances at Stoke and he scores goals, the English selectors would be forced to bring this experienced player back into the national team. Crouch said that Owen’s presence in the Stoke camp would help the young guys a lot. He is a highly experienced player and he can give a lot of valuable tips to the young players.

Stoke didn’t have to pay any transfer fee for signing Owen. Owen’s contract with Manchester United had got finished at the end of the last season and he was released by the club. So, Stoke has got Owen on a free transfer. On being asked about that, Crouch said that the club is lucky to have signed a great player like Owen on a free transfer. The club couldn’t have had a better deal than that.

The manager of Stoke City, Tony Pulis, has also expressed his delight after signing Owen. Pulis said that Owen has put up some great performances for various clubs over the years. But, at the same time, Pulis also said that Owen would have to work a bit on his fitness. He had been out of the game since the last three months and he needs a bit of time to become match fit. Once he achieves the match fitness, he would be given regular first team chances.

GREAT PRE-SEASON

Stoke city striker Peter Crouch has said that he is extremely happy following the conclusion of the US pre-season tour for the club. Stoke city have gone on the tour of the United States this season after their first ever Europa league appearance.

The club will be playing a few pre-season friendly matches in the United States before returning for the start of the new season. Peter Crouch has said that he is extremely excited about the start of the season. The club finished in the 14th position last season and will be looking to improve on that.

They are currently in negotiations with the former Manchester United striker Michael Owen, who is available on a free transfer. The former Liverpool striker has also revealed that Stoke city would be his ideal destination because it is close to his home. Peter Crouch has said that he would certainly welcome the arrival of Michael Owen because he is a quality player. The former Tottenham striker has also said that it is extremely important that Stoke city concentrate on the few pre-season matches remaining to build their fitness ahead of the start of the new season. A number of the Premier league teams have been doing the tour of the United States this season.

“We come into these games having only been back for a couple of weeks now. So it’s about getting our fitness back and making sure we are ready for the Premier League season. The results don’t matter too much now but they do in the Premier League and we’ve got to make sure we’re ready. Tests like this, where we’re playing Sporting Kansas City, will be good for us and hopefully stand us in good stead when the season starts,” said Peter Crouch, whose side will face Reading on the opening day of the season.

CROUCH WILL BE FIRED UP

Stoke city manager Tony Pulis has said that he expects striker Peter Crouch to the fired up for the start of the new season after being not selected for the squad that travelled to the Euro 2012. Peter Crouch has been one of the enigmas of English football.

Despite having an excellent record in international matches for England whenever he has played, Peter Crouch has had to prove himself time and time again with every manager. He has had time to do so, but the 30-year-old did not have the time when it came to the new England manager Roy Hodgson, who did not select him for the Euro 2012.

It has been rumoured that Peter Crouch will be announcing his retirement from international football after this snub from the former Liverpool manager. However, Tony Pulis has said that this snub will make the former Tottenham striker more enthusiastic ahead of the start of the new season. Despite spending close to £ 20 million last season, Stoke city finished only in the 14th position. Peter Crouch was one of the new arrivals at the club, but he is now expected to lead the team ahead of the next season.

‘I have spoken to Peter and he was very disappointed to be left out – and rightly so. I just said to him to go away and have a good family break, then come back raring to go for next season. I’ve no real worries with Peter because he’s an experienced lad and knows the score. If anything, his omission will be more of a motivation and he’ll come back flying,’ said Tony Pulis. It has been 18 months since Peter Crouch last played for England in a competitive match. Tony Pulis reckons that it is about time he played for England.

LINEKAR BACKS CROUCH

BBC pundit Gary Lineker has said that Stoke city striker Peter Crouch should be taken to the Euro 2012 because he gives England a new dimension to their play.

Peter Crouch has an impressive record playing for England, but has not been featured in the England squad for the last couple of seasons. He moved to Stoke city in the summer and it has been a refreshing move for the former Liverpool striker because he has been able to get games on a regular basis unlike at Tottenham. This, Gary Lineker believes, will be the key to getting England past the quarter-finals at the Euro 2012.

Hodgson will be announcing his team on May 16 and it is extremely likely that Peter Crouch will be omitted from the squad. Due to the suspension of Wayne Rooney for the first two matches of the tournament, the selection of the striker is extremely crucial for Roy Hodgson. Peter Crouch has scored 14 goals in the league for Stoke city, which is one of the best amongst the England strikers. He also has an impressive international record having scored a goal every other game in the match as he has played for England. In total, he has 22 goals from just 42 matches.

“He is a proven goalscorer at international level. I would be surprised if Crouch is not in the squad. I would definitely consider him. With Crouch there is a tendency to want to hit long balls, which doesn’t really work at that level. But it is only because he is so big. Technically, he is a decent footballer,” said Gary Lineker. Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is a major doubt for the tournament, but it is thought that he will be picked, while Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has an outside chance.

STOKE DESERVED TO WIN

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has said that even though his former club at Tottenham are an extremely great side, Stoke City deserved to win in the latest meeting between the two clubs.

Peter Crouch was at the forefront of the numerous good things Stoke city did in the match against Tottenham. It finally brought to an end the impressive run Harry Redknapp’s men have achieved in the Premier League for more than two months now. The club has put together a string of seven wins together in a row, which has helped them rise to the fourth position in the table.

However, they lost their impressive run in the match against Stoke city at the Britannia Stadium. The Britannia Stadium has always been very tough for visiting teams and it once again proved to be the case for Tottenham as well.

Former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch was influential for Stoke city, and the England striker did not fail to appease his former fans despite moving to a new club. He said that even though Stoke city managed a 2-1 win, the fact that Tottenham are a great side remains intact. The result also helped Stoke city to eliminate any fears of a relegation just before the crucial Christmas fixtures.

“Obviously they are going to come at you, they’re a top class side and you’re going to be under the cosh and everyone’s got to put a shift in. That’s what we did; we defended right from the front. Everyone was working as hard as they possibly could and you can’t take that result away from us, I thought we deserved it,” Peter Crouch said in an interview given to Skysports after the match. The goal scored by Peter Crouch is his first against Tottenham since leaving the club in the summer.
